Inspired by the American Top Team Academy located in Coconut Creek Florida, one of the top training camps for children and adult martial arts training in the country, Willy trained with masters in Brazilian Jiujitsu, Muay Thai, Grappling, Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts along side professional fighters like Hector Lombard, Thiago Galves, Mike Brown, Alexis Villa, Randy Barroso, Rodrigo Damm, Luis Sapo Santos, and many others, whom fight in  UFC, BELLATOR, and STRIKE FORCE just to name a few.  Willy Hardoy had the idea of bringing all of the qualities of the Coconut Creek training facility to Cape Coral Florida.

In 2000 Willy had one of is fondest memories that he will never forget.  While at a cage fight  event in Pompano Beach Florida he had a life changing moments as a fighter made his way to the cage to do battle, half of the audience in attendance began shouting, “ ATT! ATT!”. He remembered he told his cousin, “ I want to be in that team, they all unite to make one big, giant voice,” The fighter who inspierd him whould later be his master Edson Diniz a third-degree black belt, from American Top Team.  Guillermo's story had just begun, but started with a bang having one of  the top black belts ATT had to offer teaching his old School style Brazilian Jiujitsu. Willy pretty much made his career based on the moral, integrity, dignity, and the values of the American Top Team Academy.

Within Willies long journey, he dominated competitions like NAGA tournaments, grapplers quest, and Miami International Open.  He had also assistied Edson Diniz in many seminars, some of which were in many cities from Willies native Argentina.  While assisting Edson, Willy was acquiring the skill set to teach large amounts of people the experience that was brought from overseas.  After he earned his purple belt under Edson, he would begin instruction at well known ATT West Sample in Pompano Beach Florida.  This would be his home for many years.

 

Willy Hardoy began teaching in the academy with Leandro Barbosa, Victor Flor, Orlando De Jesus, Mathews Diaz, Tiago Fernandez, Teneise, and many others that are today also part of TRONCO MMA BJJ FIGHT TEAM.  While  teaching  on the west coast, Willies name started to grow.

 

He would eventually befriend a great coach in Cape Coral named Jesse Victory.  Jesse who had established DEFCON 1 FIGHT TEAM, rellished at the opportunity to have a great instructor like willy teaching at ther facility.  At Defcon 1, Guillermo began to teach great Brazilian Jiu jitsu classes training great fighters, like Niko Price ,Devin Gales , Randy Hernandez ,Vincent Pantaleon ,Mason Maher, Ricky Sanchez, Lazaro Almea, and many other great talents that gave him the opportunity to be recognized for being a great motivator and for keeping the unity in groups.

 

The best example happen when Jesse and the defcon 1 Fight Team found themsefs homeless and willy came with the idea of opening an American top team in cape coral.  This dream became a reality with the hard work of many to bring alive the new facility, so all could be proud of there new home.  This could not be shown any more then when you look at our walls, and see all the photos of not just fighters but our famliy too .

 

One day he told himself that in order to train others in MMA he had to be inside of an octagon and feel the pressure the adrenaline and the excitement of being the opponent in a MMA fight, so he began his fighting carrier, giving him the goal that he needs to make his teammates and students train ever so much harder for the victory and learn that part of this is that “you can lose a battle but that doesn't mean that you lose the war “.

What Willy cherishes the most is working with all kids.  They are like a sponge, absorbing every single move or technique.  Its great to see them with the GI entering the academy getting ready for class an show mommy and daddy that they can do it, that they old enough to learn and be responsible with this acquire discipline, not only because they learn how to defend themselves, but also because they have the knowledge that could hurt others ,they learn how to control themselves , and at the end everybody goes home happy and exited an most of the time with the satisfaction that the new generation will be part of this family too .

The last five years have been a non stop roller coaster, bringing many to the events supporting many great fighters, coaching them and also training them to get better an give a better quality in classes , Willy hates the idea of a boring class were there is no motivation or a laugh in the middle of a hard sweaty training.  Today opening this academy bringing a big part of himself the name of the American top team to this beautiful town is with no doubt a great satisfaction to settle here with his family wife and kids and be part of cape coral families too.
